What do you get when you cross a mockumentary with a cast made up from The Daily Show and Best Week Ever documenting the culure of paint ball? Blackballed: The Bobby Dukes Story.
Blackballed stars (the Daily Show correspondent) Rob Courdry as Bobby Dukes, paint balls first mega-star. In the midst of a heated battle (illustrated with He-Man action figures), Dukes was caught trying to wipe a paint splatter off. After the "wiping incident", Dukes was a pariah in the paint ball scene, losing his legend, his reputation and his wife. Ten years have passed, and Dukes feels ready to don the armor once more and take to the field for a big tournament. He has to assemble a team (when most people still treat him like a leper for wiping) and even qualify to get in.
I loved this movie. It's basic, it's simple, it's down to Earth. The movie is more driven by it's characters, which are always great comedies if executed correctly, and with this cast, with Rob Courdry, Paul Scheer, Rob Huebel and Ed Helms, just to name a few of the faces you'll recognize, you can't go wrong. The fact that most of their lines are ad libbed is even more amazing. These guys just wing it, and it works so well. Underneath it all, there is a story of sportsmanship and of fair play, and it plays out very well.
Overall, this is the type of movie that you want to kick back with a couple of friends and watch. Its fun, it mocks itself and its genre, and it has some amazing scenes and one liners ("Second place is just first place for losers").
